I think it’s official: after that finale of The Boys, if I ever see the writers in person, it’s on sight.
They may be behind one of the most beloved shows on television that has given so many incredible moments, but they also wrote that episode, and I can’t forgive them for that.
If you’re not in the loop The Boys wrapped up its fourth season yesterday, and the episode is an emotional rollercoaster.
With the titular Boys scrambling to prevent the assassination of the president, which would allow Homelander to become the Commander-In-Chief in all but name, the episode was thrill a minute.

And major spoiler warning for the events of the finale, it ends in a heartbreaking way for our main characters.

THE BOYS CREATOR ON WHAT 'INSANE' SEASON FOUR ENDING MEANS FOR FINAL SEASON
After Homelander (last chance for spoilers) succeeds, ending up with a puppet as President who declares martial law, The Boys go to ground, all splitting up and going on the run.

This doesn’t last long though, with all of them bar Butcher and Starlight being apprehended by deputised supes sent by Homelander.
Among these is Kimiko and Frenchie, who are apprehended by Cate and Sam from Gen V – the Guardians of Godolkin.
This comes just a couple of scenes after, following four seasons of build-up, Frenchie and Kimiko kiss.

It was the second time they'd locked lips after a brief and awkward smooch in season three, after which they'd decided to keep things platonic.
But as season four ended, they'd seemingly decided to give into their feelings for each other - right before they're torn apart.
Kimiko, who has been mute throughout the series due to past trauma, speaks for the first time in the entire show, crying out “no!” She is held back by Sam whist Cate uses her mind-control powers to lead Frenchie into a van.

Heartbreaking.
Fans were in the same camp as me watching this scene, with such a massive moment marking arguably the lowest point of The Boys so far.
One fan wrote: “Kimiko speaking for the first time in the most gut wrenching situation ever imagined.”

Another fan replied saying: “Wanted to hear her talk but not like this omfg.”
This discussion was mirrored on Reddit, where a poster in the subreddit r/TheBoys said: “This is probably the saddest scene of the show.
“I always wonder if Kimiko would speak in The Boys and hearing her scream no as Frenchie gets taken away truly shows how much she loves him.”
One fan commented: “You know if you think about why she never spoke, this scene becomes even more painful.
“She said that she was forced to fight, and that making a noise would get her killed. She was stabbed, beaten, torn apart, neck broken on and on, and still nothing… until having Frenchie torn away from her. That was so painful that she couldn’t stay quiet.”
Be right back while I go lock myself in a cupboard and have a cry. Eric Kripke, Amazon, whoever is writing this show’s final season, you better have a beautiful reunion in store for season five.
