Jeremy Clarkson has revealed prime minister Keir Starmer is not allowed inside his newly opened pub The Farmer's Dog

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that Prime Minister Keir Starmer is 'barred' from his pub as its doors officially swing open to the general public.

The Clarkson's Farm star branched out in to the world of hospitality earlier this year, buying a pub down the road from his Diddly Squat Farm for 'just under' £1 million.

Renaming it The Farmer's Dog, the venue off the A40 at Asthall, near Burford, has spent the summer months preparing for its grand opening today (23 August) just in time for the August bank holiday weekend.

The price of a pint at the pub has been revealed alongside the full food menu, as well as the prices of each dish.

With long queues forming outside the pub ahead of its midday grand opening, film crews followed Clarkson as he rocked up to the venue with a large tray of mushrooms as some punters revealed they had been there since 8am to secure a table inside.

Ahead of the big opening, though, former Top Gear man Clarkson revealed one very important person wasn't on the guest list and, in fact, would find himself refused entry it he turned up.

Speaking to Times Radio presenter Cathy Newman, the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter revealed that the PM himself, Sir Keir Starmer, was effectively barred from the venue.

"He’s banned. Actually, he’s the first person to be banned," Clarkson told Newman when asked about Labour's understanding of the rural economy.

"He’s actually on a board in the hall, he’s banned."

Referring to the Labour government as a 'hopeless bunch', he added: "I don’t think any of them have set foot outside Kentish Town for the last 35 years."

When Newman questioned Clarkson on exactly why Starmer was banned from the Cotswold watering hole, the Grand Tour frontman said: "Erm... hello? I thought you were running a news operation.

"He hasn't done much to endear himself to me yet. We'll have a look at farming. It might turn around, you never know."

One former prime minister who wont be banned from the pub is former Conservative Party leader David Cameron, who is famously a neighbour of Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm.

And it's a situation that has seen them become friends, with Clarkson lending him a tractor at one point which blew up minutes after the former Prime Minister sat down to use it.

"David Cameron broke my tractor the other day," Clarkson said last year on the Performance People podcast.

"He just borrowed it to go and mow his paddock and then...", Clarkson said before Kaleb Cooper butted in with: "Never lend a tractor to an MP."

Kaleb said: "It's ploughed fields all day for the last you know, 60 years. And then all of a sudden David Cameron jumps on it and 'bang'."

Clarkson said: "I honestly thought he'd been hit by a heat-seeking missile. There was so much smoke. Unbelievable amount of smoke."

The full Times Radio interview with Jeremy Clarkson, including further comment on Starmer, will be broadcast after 6pm.
