GTA 6 will be unplayable for millions when launched as 2025 release is confirmed

GTA 6 will be unplayable for millions when launched as 2025 release is confirmed

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to take over the gaming world when it is released later this year

GTA 6 has been reconfirmed for a 2025 release, with a date in the autumn expected to be announced as the year progresses.

But when the next addition in the Grand Theft Auto universe finally is released and millions rush to buy it, there will be a massive chunk of the gaming community who can't enjoy the pleasures of Vice City for quite some time.

What has Take-Two Interactive said about GTA 6?

This week, Take-Two Interactive - the parent company of Grand Theft Auto VI developer Rockstar - confirmed that the wait for the massive game is not going to get longer, calming fears over a delay until 2026.

Speaking this week, the company confirmed a release is still expected in the autumn of this year, meaning it should be all systems go in either September, October or November 2025.

But for millions of gamers around the world, there is a reality to this that they need to come to terms with sooner rather than later.

And that is that it will be an unplayable product when launch day comes around.

Who won't be able to play GTA 6?

First up, it's a no go if you still have a PS4 or Xbox One, with GTA 6 coming nowhere near the last generation of consoles due to it being unable to handle the product from a hardware point of view.

Announcing the game, Rockstar said in a press release: "Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X/S games and entertainment systems in 2025."

It shouldn't really be a surprise given that the PS4 and Xbox One were both released more than a decade ago in 2013. Technology has advanced quickly since then.

On top of that, it is bad news for those who like to do their gaming on a PC.

A PC version of GTA 6 is not expected for some time. Potentially years, in fact.

When it came to the previous instalment, GTA 5, the game was released in September 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3. It was then upgraded to PS4 and Xbox One in November 2014.

A PC version only arrived in April 2015, which is a solid 18 months after the initial release.

Not good if that is your platform of choice.

The saving grace is that by that time, the price of GTA 6 may have come down somewhat with rumours circulating that it could be sold for up to $100 (£80) a copy.

Some fans aren't convinced and have explained why they think such a price tag wont happen.
