Holy smoke, Wildcats, get ready because Zac Efron says he’s down for a High School Musical reboot.
With all the reboots happening now, it’s not uncommon to entertain another sequel for the franchise, especially with the third season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series underway.
But the Baywatch actor confirmed to E! News he’d love to head back to East High to shoot another film.

When asked if he would be open to filming a revival, the actor responded: “Of course, of course.
“Seriously, having the opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart's still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens."
The original film catapulted Efron and the rest of the cast into stardom as the movie was a commercial and critical hit.

The first film generated 7.7 million viewers in its premiere broadcast on Disney Channel, which led to two other sequels, with the third feature theatrically released.
High School Music 3: Senior Year also went on to earn USD 252.9 million at the box office and was the biggest opening day for a film musical at the time, only to be dethroned by Les Miserables in 2012.
In 2016, notable cast members, including Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman, reunited to celebrate the tenth anniversary when the film first premiered.
During the reunion, the cast shared behind-the-scenes footage, cute on-set stories and even uncovered their audition tapes, which all made our cups very very full.
And although Efron was absent from the reunion, he sent in a pre-recorded video message where he revealed the High School Musical franchise will always hold a special place in his heart.

He said: "I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there in person, but I’m with you all in spirit
“My favourite scene from the movie has to be ‘We’re All In This Together.’ The unity, the whole cast in that moment was just really, really fun. I’ll never forget that day of filming. It’s embedded in my mind as one of the most beautiful days of my entire life.”
Alrighty Efron, it’s time to put back on the East High basketball jersey.
