Warning: Contains Major Spoilers For The Finale Of Peaky Blinders
Dedicated Peaky Blinders fans spotted a key detail linking the first episode with the finale as the long-running drama came to an end on Sunday (3 April).
The sixth episode of the sixth and final series marked the end of an era for fans of the Shelby family, and though some key characters are still set to return in the form of a feature film their drama on the small screen will now be limited to lengthy re-watches and adoring binging sessions.

A number of favourite faces had the opportunity to say goodbye with final appearances in the episode which aired last night (3 April), including Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy), Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), Arthur (Paul Anderson), Ada (Sophie Rundle) and Lizzie (Natasha O'Keefe).
Of course, it wouldn't be a Peaky Blinders finale without Tommy Shelby, and Cillian Murphy's farewell was the one that fans pointed out to be packed full of meaning.
The finale saw Tommy preparing to end his life, only to soon change his plans and leave his funeral trailer burning. Rather than laying inside it, the Shelby gang leader rode away from the scene on a white horse.

His choice of steed stood out to viewers as it called to mind a similar scene from the first ever episode of the series, which aired almost 10 years ago in 2013. In the original scene Shelby could be seen riding a black horse, which eagle-eyed viewers suggested was reflective of his dark nature in the early season.
One viewer commented: "Started on a black horse foreshadowing tommy in season 1 finished on a white horse foreshadowing the new tommy shelby."
Another wrote: "tommy entering riding a black horse at the beginning and leaving riding a white horse at the end oh i cant breathe"

A third commented: "Since season 1 till now Tommy always rode on a black horse which is his signature horse but in the final scene he rides away on a white horse to show that he has finally let go of his past. WHAT A SHOW."
The finale has earned widespread praise from viewers, with many taking to Twitter to describe it as 'amazing' and 'brilliant' as Tommy and the other major characters left the small screen for good.
Though it's time to say goodbye to the series, Murphy is set to return as Tommy once again in the Peaky Blinders film, production for which is set to begin in the coming months.
